About God

To become a Follower of Christ, one must recognize their estrangement from God due to sin (Romans 3:23). Since individuals cannot reconcile this relationship on their own, God sent Jesus to fulfill His requirements (Romans 6:23). Jesus' sacrifice bridges the gap caused by sin (Romans 5:8). To reconcile with God, one must repent, accept Christ's sacrifice, and believe in His resurrection (Romans 10:9). God promises salvation to anyone who calls on Him (Romans 10:13). In prayer, we should ADMIT our sinfulness, BELIEVE in God’s forgiveness, and COMMIT to living as He instructs.

What Is the Gospel?

The gospel is the good news of God’s grace invading the darkness of this world. It is the grand narrative of creation, fall, redemption, and consummation ordained by God and orchestrated through the life, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ. Christ’s crucifixion is the heart of the gospel. His resurrection is the power of the gospel. His ascension is the glory of the gospel.

Core Doctrines

What we believe about God is the most important thing about us.

The Bible is God's inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word, revealing Himself to humanity.

There is one true and living God, existing eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Humanity is created in God's image but fell into sin, necessitating redemption through Christ.

Salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, who died for sins and was resurrected.

Election is God’s gracious choice, but it does not negate human free will.

A local, autonomous congregation of baptized believers who share faith, ordinances, and mission.

Baptism is immersion of believers, and the Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act of obedience.

Baptism is immersion of believers, and the Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act of obedience.

Sunday is observed as the day of worship in honor of Christ’s resurrection.

God’s rule over creation is present and will be fully realized in His return.

Jesus will return bodily, the dead will be raised, and judgment will occur.

The Great Commission is the duty of every believer and church.

Christian education is essential for spiritual and intellectual growth.

All believers are responsible for using their time, talents, and treasures for God's glory.

Baptists should work together for the advancement of Christ’s mission.

Christians should promote righteousness, oppose sin, and seek justice.

Church and state should be separate; faith must be voluntary.

Marriage is between one man and one woman, and the family is foundational to society.

1896-1930 Three Faithful Men

Three Baptist men organized this church, calling their first pastor T.E. Muse who served as the 1898 to 1900. The 1900 Galveston hurricane destroyed an unfinished church building. Services were held in a nearby church and in a rail car until a schoolhouse was purchased in 1901. In 1912, a brick sanctuary was built, with the first electric lights in town. Some baptism services were held in the Brazos River until the 1930s.

2023-Present  Honoring the Past and Looking Ahead

In February 2023, our church recognized the need for significant changes to effectively impact our community and foster discipleship. We made the difficult decision to list our building, which was subsequently sold. After renting from the new owners for a time, we transitioned to our current location as a replant, allowing us to continue our mission with renewed focus and commitment.
